I in Iceland
From top to bottom: Blue Lagoon, Reynisfjara Black Beach, Seljalandsfoss Waterfall
Mom(me) time. Starting off this blog with a very meaningful trip I took this year. My first ever solo adventure. Without husband, without kids. Just me, myself and I. To push myself even further, I booked last-minute, chose Iceland in January, stayed in hostels and backpacked my way through. Despite of, or maybe because of my direction-challenged self, it was wonderful, liberating, and empowering.
Iceland was beautiful and magnificent, unlike any place I’ve ever been. But for a solo, of-age female traveler like myself, it was also safe, clean, comfortable, and easy. There was no language barrier, everyone spoke English. Joining a tour was effortless, with buses that would pick up and drop you at your hotel, it was a no-brainer.
But here’s the thing, yes, I got on a plane, crossed the sea, traveled thousands of miles away, but this is still me back home. Going to the movies by myself, enjoying a solo meal at a restaurant, it doesn’t take much to take time off from the wife and mom roles you play. Savor that coffee, even if it’s just at the neighborhood Starbucks and then head home rejuvenated and then realize it wasn’t just the caffeine.
Thanks for joining me!
